Unmerited favour & peace

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. (Galatians 1:3-5)

To be read with a sense of breathless wonder…

Where do grace – unmerited favour – and peace come from? They come from our Father; God himself. They come from our Master, our saving King; Jesus.

Who is this Jesus? He is the one who gave himself. He is the one who gave himself for our sins! He is the one who rescued us from this evil age.

Who is this God? He is our Father. He is the one who purposed that Jesus would give himself for our sins. He is the one who willed that Jesus would rescue us from this evil age!

These are they from whom unmerited favour and peace flow.

How can we but respond!? – To you be the glory forever and ever and ever and ever! O most wonderful God. O most wonderful saving king. That you would will and act to rescue us, to give in such a costly way for our sins. For our sins!

Such grace. Such peace. Such a God! Such a Saviour!
